SOMA stands for Sharing of Ministries Abroad. It is an Anglican Mission Agency with a calling to ‘Join the Holy Spirit Tending to the Nervous System of the Body of Christ.’ In practice this has often meant going to places that are hurting (e.g. Rwanda in 1996), connecting the church internationally and building the body both overseas and in the sending country as well. Today SOMA continues to connect the church across the world, breaking barriers that can separate us and building up the body of Christ through learning together. What sets SOMA apart is that teams are invited out by the local bishops because they know that the teams will bring excellent Spirit-filled teaching. This is why the demand for SOMA teams always outstrips supply. The other amazing dynamic is that whilst teams return exhausted, they carry so much of the ‘fire’ back with them that their home churches are impacted.
Will, our Rector, is on the SOMA National Leadership Team and was part of a successful mission trip to Dodoma in Tanzania in April 2024. He will lead a team to Mombasa, Kenya in October 2025. Details of that trip are here.
Our Partner Organisations:

Open Doors supports persecuted Christians with Bibles, Christian materials, training, livelihood skills, advocacy - and in a whole host of other ways - so that they know they are not forgotten and can stand strong to serve their communities. So that they can give life. The Charity seeks to mobilise the church in the UK & Ireland not only to serve Christians living under religious persecution but also to learn from them what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
Emma Elias
Emma is one of our mission partners serving the Lord through creativity, currently in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and within the UK. Her main focus is on helping to support local teams within churches and organisations by helping to equip and teach them to reach out to their local communities through creativity. The Lord is using creativity in lots of different ways to bring healing and hope to people, often overseas those traumatised by events in recent years. She is also involved in prayer ministry, teaching and mentoring and is part of the Ellel Ministries team from time to time. If you would like more information on creativity including how to support please visit the website: createdcreative.co.uk or email Emma at emmacottrell@yahoo.com.
