Buckingham Parish Church

Community

At Buckingham Parish Church, we know there is more to life than just what happens within the walls of our building. We are part of a local community and a global community, and God cares about both and wants the church to be a vessel for change and positive growth.

The Community Lunch
The Community Lunch is what people will tell you never exists - a free meal!  Every Tuesday between Noon and 1.15pm we turn the Church into a restaurant and offer a full meal of Soup, a main and a pudding with tea or coffee thrown in - all totally free.  We do ask for donations towards the cost from those that can afford it.

We usually welcome around 60-70 people every week from across all ages and it is a wonderful time to meet new people and for those who may struggle with loneliness to be amongst others.  We even have a minibus that taxis people to lunch.

There is a wonderful team of volunteers in the kitchen (more always welcome!) and you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.

The Food Bank
BPC set up and administers the Buckingham Food Bank which covers Buckingham and the surrounding villages.
Requests for food parcels are made by care agencies such as the CAB, GP’s, Community Nurses, Health Visitors, Local Churches who can help assess the need.

Calls are not taken direct from the public as it is important the issues leading to a food crisis are dealt with as well.  Our team of volunteers deliver food parcels to agencies requesting them for their clients or to people’s homes.

Advice on issues leading to the need for a food parcel can be obtained by contacting Helping Hand 01296 531151.

The Centre

Buckingham Parish Church is passionate about being actively involved in the community and The Centre is one of the most exciting developments in recent years. Located in the Buckingham Town Centre it allows for the development of current community outreach activities as well as opening opportunities for new ones.

The building is also being used by other groups who share the vision for making The Centre a place of warmth, compassion and friendship: helping to build a caring and supportive community Weekly events include:

Coffee and Company
Coffee and Company every morning Monday to Thursday between 10 am and 12 noon. Drop in for a coffee and some company, especially if you are on your own. There will always be someone to chat to. Why not bring your friends along and enjoy a warm relaxing atmosphere where you can wile away the morning.

Tea and Chat takes place every Monday between 2.30 pm and 4 pm. Call in and enjoy a cup of tea and even a piece of cake. This is a great opportunity to meet and make new friends. Our team of volunteers will give you a warm welcome and would love to get to know you.

For booking enquiries, please contact Judith Wigley, Centre Manager, centre@bpchurch.uk
For further information about The Centre please contact Gill and Keith Croxton on 01280-815100

If you would like to personally support any of these projects or get involved yourself, please do get in contact.
It is a big mission field, and we need as many willing hands as possible!

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
