Help with the
Bereavement Journey

Bereavement Course

Loss needs to be processed for our physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Unresolved grief can also affect our attitudes, relationships and attainment.
Buckingham Parish Church offers an in-person Bereavement Course, consisting of six sessions, each lasting about two hours. The next one will start within the next four months. See our events page for details.

The Bereavement Journey

An on-line offering of “The Bereavement Journey” is available as 7 Sessions of films and discussion. See this link to The Bereavement Journey website. This course is for bereaved adults to do their own grief work. It is supported by a Guest Manual and facilitated by volunteers.

Who are these designed for?
Both in-person and on-line courses are for anyone, whether grieving a death now, or wanting to explore a previous bereavement that may be unresolved. Attendance is recommended for all the Sessions, although it is possible to join the on-line course at the second session.

It is most beneficial to attend after the first acute phase of a loss, at least a few weeks, ideally after the funeral, but this is not essential. The on-line Bereavement Journey can also benefit those in anticipatory grief, and pregnancy loss.

Topics include:

• Attachment, separation and loss
• The pain and responses of grief
• Anger and guilt
• Coping with others’ reactions
• Delayed and suppressed grief
• Adjusting to change
• Moving forward healthily

Faith.
Faith is reserved for the final session in both courses, "Faith Questions in Bereavement", and is optional; this makes the course suitable for anyone of any faith or none. Most choose to attend as by then they have formed bonds with their fellow travellers.

Register.
Please fill in the form below to register your interest with our BPC in-person course. We will then be in contact to discuss the best time and dates to run this course.

Otherwise use the link above to see details of the on-line course.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

Click here for our kids programme.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.

Other Ministries
