Buckingham Food Bank

Food Bank June 2020 (002)

If you don’t have enough food to eat, we can help! We run a local Foodbank distributing non-perishable and fresh food in Buckingham and the surrounding villages. Simply ask to be referred by:

  • Buckinghamshire Council Helping Hands on: 01296 531 151 (Mon to Fri office hours) 0800 999 7677 (out-of-hours emergency)
  • Citizens’ Advice on 0808 278 7938 or 01494 785660
  • Your doctors’ surgery
  • Community Nurses
  • Health Visitors
  • Social Services
  • Local churches

Our team of volunteers will then deliver supplies directly to your home, or confidentially through your referring agency. We also have nappies, toiletries, female sanitary products, and other special items on request and can take note of special dietary needs e.g. allergies or intolerances.

This service covers short-term emergencies such a sudden unemployment or loss of benefits. Therefore it’s crucial that the underlying issues leading to your food crisis are also dealt with, which is why it is important you seek help from an agency such as those listed above. Sorry, we do not take calls direct from the public. Those referring you will advise us of your food needs including the number of food parcels you may require.

The Foodbank is open between 10:00 and 12:00 every Tuesday to drop off food items, toiletries etc. Sorry, we can't accept fresh food or baby food but will gratefully accept most other things. Or if you would like to give a monetary donation please click here for more details. Thank you for your generosity!

Currently, our requirements are for the following:

Toiletries

Tinned: Small sweetcorn, Custard, Fruit
 Fruit drinks
Jams
Small jars of coffee
Pasta sauce

Please NO pasta, soup, beans, cereals or tuna

Please be aware that items dropped off in Tesco stores do not come to your local Buckingham Foodbank.

If you need help with wider issues in your life and need someone to talk to, do please contact care@bpchurch.uk or one of the other churches in the town who are there to listen.

We want to thank Heart of Bucks Community Foundation and the Anchor Community Connection Fund for providing a grant to support  the provision of food/meals for:

Tuesday Lunch
Energise
Coffee and Company
Tea and Chat

This has enabled us to provide food support to, amongst others, the lonely, elderly and young families

Buckingham Food Bank  Donators 2022

Buckingham Food Bank want to thank all those who have supported us during 2022. It has been a challenging year but without your support we would not have been able to meet the needs of those on our community who have been in urgent of food. Your generosity has been a blessing to all those we have helped.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

Click here for our kids programme.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
